Why I Plexus

I used to put so much weight on what other people thought of the way I lived my life and the choices I made. Especially when it came to using and sharing about Plexus. I did not want to be judged for becoming "one of those people". Then I realized that other people's opinions were never there to help when I couldn’t function from extreme fatigue, when I had those daily headaches and migraines, or when my hair was falling out and the weight kept increasing.
I was nervous about sharing my health journey and my plexus journey so publicly, but then I started getting messages from people asking questions. People needing answers of their own. Everyone wants to find healing in some way - whether it be for physical health, mental health, or even spiritual health reasons. And maybe we shouldn’t care so much, but sometimes it’s hard not to.

My perspective on a lot has shifted over the past few months and today I find so much joy in the journey! Whether you’re needing words of encouragement, prayers, or needing a lifestyle change message me and I’d love to help! Helping is healing and whether you agree or not, Plexus is healing myself and many others!

About Me

Hey y’all!! My name is Brittany and thanks for stopping by! Here’s a little about me and why I’ve decided to start up a blog:

I’m 27 years old and a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist from the Central Arkansas area. I find joy in traveling, reading, and making memories with those closest to me. I also have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and enjoy bettering myself mentally, physically, and most important, spiritually.

I grew up in Conway, Arkansas and lived there for 18 years before moving to a small town to attend college. Harding University, in Searcy, AR, was my home away from home for 6 years. I spent my undergraduate years building friendships, learning about myself, and discovering my passion for helping others. In 2012 I graduated with my Bachelors of Arts degree in Communications, Sciences and Disorders. I immediately started into my Masters of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology, also at HU, and graduated in May 2014. While I loved my time at Harding, I dealt with lots of health issues that put strains on my social, academic, and spiritual life.

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease, when I was 12 years old. As a pre-teen I had no idea what this diagnosis held and the importance of lifestyle choices. I fed my body junk, took the medicine my doctor prescribed, and didn’t ask any questions. I grew up thinking the way I always felt was “normal” and it wasn’t until I went to college that I noticed how Hashi’s really affected my life. It was freshman year and I could barely get myself out of bed for classes, let alone maintain a social life. I suffered from extreme fatigue, chronic headaches/migraines, depression, hair loss, weight gain (freshman 40 for me!!), sugar addiction, constant pain, and major gut issues. I was constantly in the doctors office, trying new medications, and being poked and prodded for a variety of tests.

I suffered like this for another 7.5 years before I decided to take matters into my own hands, in 2015, and get my life back. After 2.5 years of research, making some dietary changes (although needing more), and adding in some of the best supplements on the market, I’m finally feeling freedom from my health struggles. I’d love for you to join me in my triumphs, setbacks, and everything in between. I've learned to shut out demons of doubt and insecurities through sharing about the good, the bad, and the ugly of living with an autoimmune disease.

I’ve learned to simply listen to my own body and advocate for myself. Everyone is different, but if there’s one thing I know, it’s that nobody knows you better than you know yourself!

I have learned not to let my health define who I am and through my health difficulties, I've made a career out of one of my passions - helping others, loving on kids, and working in a mission field.

I hope this blog inspires you to get healthy, believe in yourself, love your life despite the circumstances, and to be passionate about everything you do!

XO, Brittany
